Boys Fencers Take Second at Squad Championships

The girls saber squad finished 11th.

The boys epée squad came close to duplicating their Cetrulo win on Sunday, going 30-15, but finished second to Ranney at the NJSIAA Squad Championships.

The squad stumbled a bit in the early going but fenced strong as the afternoon wore on, sweeping Ranney, West Milford and going 2-1 against Mendham, the champions from Districts 2, 4 & 1, respectively.

Senior Joe Caulfield went 7-8, senior Rei Otake 12-3 and sophomore Ricky Eschenbach 11-4.

The girls saber squad competed in the NJSIAA Squad Championships on Saturday. Seniors Hannah Roukas and Leah Hirschfeld along with freshman Ilana Kamber placed 11th.  Kamber will compete in the State Individual Championships at Rider University on March 13 along with Epee fencers Otake and Eschenbach.
