4 Ways Water Enters your New Jersey Basement

The first two ways water enters the basement are corrected with a French Drain.

You walk downstairs the day after a heavy rain and see a puddle on the floor. Did it come up through the floor or leak out the walls? There are 4 ways water enters your basement:

  1. Water leaks through the floor.
  2. Water leaks from the walls.
  3. Water vapor comes through the walls and floor.
  4. Water enters though humidity in the air.

French Drains and Sump Pumps

The first two ways water enters the basement are corrected with a French Drain. A French Drain basement waterproofing system drains the water from the block walls with weep holes. A below grade drainage pipe delivers the water to the sump well on purpose. The system is designed prevent water from flooding your basement. It is installed inside the basement, below the floor, around the perimeter. This French Drain controls the water, delivers it to the sump pump(s), and discharges it out of the house. This system comes with a lifetime guarantee that your basement floor will not have any water on it.

Then you need to factor in an emergency sump pump for when the electricity goes out and a way to keep out the humidity and water vapor.

Your French Drain basement waterproofing system should be prepared to work in the case of a power outage or the failure of a sump pump, and in the face of overwhelming torrential rain. We install a water powered emergency sump pump which works off your municipal water pressure in the event of a power outage or a Heavy Duty Battery Backup System that can pump 11,000 Gallons of water on a single battery charge.

Ventilation is Key

When it comes to removing humidity and water vapor you need a ventilation system that works year round. The E-Z Breathe Ventilation System is a better than a dehumidifier because it works 12 months a year and not just in the warmest months. This whole house ventilation system is a device that expels the dampest, most humid & contaminated air from your basement to the outside.

Once the damp air is exhausted outside it is replaced with dry air from the higher levels of your house. It has a humidistat, turning itself on and off as humidity levels increase and decrease. This ventilation system will work year round unlike a dehumidifier which can only operate in the warmest months.

Okay, now here comes the good part: no buckets to empty, no filters to replace and only uses about $2 A MONTH of electricity. E-Z Breathe is known as The Better Dehumidifier.
