Art Advisory Committee Reception "Point of Origin" Honors AP Art Students

On May 23, 2013,  the “Point of Origin” scholarship reception was held at Contemporary Art and Editions Gallery in Millburn.  At this celebratory event , awards were presented to Millburn High School A.P. Art students by the Millburn-Short Hills Art Advisory Committee.   Four seniors and four juniors received prizes consisting of generous donations from sponsors as well as a plaque from the township.

The festive event showcased the students’ winning works to a high-spirited crowd.  In remarks given by Laraine Barach, chairwoman of the Art Advisory Committee, the young artists were lauded for their artistic achievements and encouraged to remember their “Point of Origin” as they make their way in life.  Mayor Sandy Haimoff also addressed the crowd.  Kathleen Harte Gilsenan, A.P. Art Instructor, was recognized as a key influence on the students and also spoke to the assembled group.

The event was hosted by Greg Smith of Contemporary Art and Editions Gallery and the Millburn-Short Hills Art Advisory Committee, with catering provided by Kings and La Strada.  Scholarship sponsors included Jerry's Artist Outlet, Rotary, CSM Frame and Design, Caryn Krueger, Cathy Scorsese, David Gary Gallery, Steve Suskauer, Contemporary Art and Editions, Greg Smith, Jalm &Co, Stahl Del Ducca Florists, Rizzo Gallery, Andrew Permison, KINGS Market of Short Hills, La Strada, Staples Print Center, and Steven Barach Graphics.
