From Proposal to Wedding Day: Saying Good-bye to your Guests in Style

In this season of wedding planning, look here for answers on how to go from "I will" to "I do" without the stress and mishaps. This week: saying good bye to your guests in style.

You’ve heard me say it before that your wedding is a perfect chance to pull all of your likes and hobbies and mesh it together to present you as a couple to all of your family and friends.

Between the color scheme, flowers selection, favors and many other details you’ll have plenty of opportunities to incorporate all the things that you love and feel nostalgic about. And don’t get discouraged with the amount of work involved in creating each and every detail. You might feel that it is not worth it in the end and it will not get noticed, but trust me, the overall feel of a well planned and designed wedding will definitely come through and wow your guests.

Giving your guests a parting gift is a perfect example of a wedding detail that will definitely not go unnoticed. It puts an exclamation point to an already breathtaking event and tells your guests that you truly thought about them and their comfort.

This gesture doesn’t need to be grand or expensive. Here are some ideas:

  • Midnight coffee in to-go cups will be a hit with your “driving” guests
  • Add on some of your favorite cookies with a farewell note for a personalized touch.
  • Personalized mints will be much appreciated after a long night of eating and drinking.
  • Candy buffets are still pretty popular and an excellent choice to show off your favorite childhood candy in your wedding colors. Plus they look so pretty!
  • More of a hearty selections for “to go” snack may include sliders, mini hot dogs or hash browns. Just make sure to have them individually wrapped (think cupcake liners) so they look appetizing and are easy to pick up and go.
  • Truck delivered foods are also pretty popular and a fun way to finish your night. Mr. Softee trucks, waffle trucks, crepes trucks, tacos trucks, lobster trucks-you name it! Keep in mind that food trucks will definitely make your guests stand in line, good rule of thumb is one truck per 75 guests to minimize time spent on line.
  • And for non-food parting gestures, try a small bottle of water paired with a packet of Advil, it will definitely get appreciated in a wee morning hours.

In my next blog, let’s talk about favors. To favor or not to favor? In the meantime – happy wedding planning!
