Chamber to Honor Local Businesses

Will hand out awards to a number of owners during ceremony this week

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce will honor a number of local businesses during its annual meeting and awards ceremony on Wednesday.

The event at the F.M. Kirby Carriage House at the Paper Mill Playhouse starts with networking at 5:15 p.m., and the awards ceremony and installation of officers starts at 6:15 p.m. Registration for the event has closed.

Design and renovation awards will be presented to a number of new Township businesses including Bella’s Bakery, Rock'N Joe’s Coffee House & Bistro and Sapporo Japanese Restaurant. Visual recognition awards will be presented to Bungalow, Exquisite Bridal, Furbish Home, Java’s Brewin’, Jia Boutique and Tea Together.

The new slate of Chamber officers are Ralph Tarnofsky, Professional Audio Consultants, as president; Shayne Miller, Paper Mill Playhouse, as first vice president; Patti Brown, Investors Savings Bank, as vice president; Roy Twiste, Travel Leaders, as vice president; David Stern, Wolf Head Athletic, as treasurer; and Claudia Karp, Weichert Realtors, as secretary.

Serving with the officers as members of the board of directors will be Richard Futter, Futter’s Shoes; David Stone, Nancy and David Fine Jewels; Deborah Lerner, Lerner Duane Communication; Karen Bigos and Daniel Cannizzo, representing Towne Realty Group; John Buchholz, The Buchholz Architectural Group; and John F. Jennings.

Also serving on the board will be Diana Hoffman, Hoffman Architects; Louis LaSalle, Saint Barnabas Medical Center; Ellen Lubin-Sherman, LAUNCH; John Nietzel, Investors Savings Bank; Jan Saltiel Rafel, Edgewater Design; Ted Stampoulos, Martini Bistro & Bar; and Sally Kaufman, of Cox Stationers & Printers.

Also joining the board are Lloyd Perkel, M. Blaustein Furrier; Peter Webster, Hilton Short Hills; and Ken Wenger of PNC Bank.
