Contractor At Millburn School Seriously Injured After Fall

A contractor working at Millburn Middle School fell off a 24-foot steel structure and was hospitalized for his injuries, authorities said.

MILLBURN, NJ — A contractor working at Millburn Middle School fell off a 24-foot steel structure and was hospitalized for his injuries on Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the Millburn Police Department, officers responded to the middle school after receiving a report about a “fall victim.” On site, officers found a 54-year-old male contractor who fell from a 24-foot steel structure.

Emergency responders transported him to Morristown Memorial Hospital for his injuries. An Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) representative responded to the scene, police stated.

On Wednesday, an OSHA spokesperson told Patch that the man fell while engaging in steel decking operations and has "serious but non-life threatening injuries." The man is employed with Industrial Services Enterprises of Randolph, which was subcontracted by The Bennett Company of Passaic to perform work at the school.

Neither company has a prior history with OSHA, the spokesperson said.
