DMDA Still Waiting on Main Street Designation

Funding has yet to be approved to add new towns to the program that brings consulting services.

Downtown Millburn Development Alliance officials are still waiting to hear if they received the Main Street designation from the state.

State officials are still waiting to see how much funding will be available for the program or if it will be cut, said Harold Klein, DMDA executive director. But because of the wait, Millburn downtown leaders were invited to send a representative to a conference for the program.

Millburn's special improvement district was declared a finalist for the program, but there has been uncertainty about funding since the winter. The DMDA applied for the state designation last fall. The designation does not bring any actual funding to the business organization. Rather it will give them a number of consulting services to guide on how to improve the downtown business district.
