Essex High School Alumni Basketball Game to Include Former NFL Players

Former New York Jets players to take part in an alumni basketball game.

Bloomfield Educational Foundation announced the 26th Annual Theodore Jasieniecki Bloomfield High School Alumni Basketball Game is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m.

Former New York Jets players Tony Richardson, Fred Baxter and Bruce Harper will serve as celebrity head coaches in this year’s alumni game, according to a press release from the Bloomfield Educational Foundation. Autographed merchandise from the former NFL players will be available while supplies last.

In addition to a high school alumni basketball game, there will be two elementary school basketball games held prior to the BHS Alumni game. The matchups will feature the 6th grade girls basketball team from Berkeley versus Demarest at 6 p.m., followed by the 6th grade boys basketball teams from Carteret versus Oakview at 6:30 p.m., the release said. The BHS Alumni game will begin at 7p.m.

Admission to the games is $5 for adults and $2 for children. All proceeds will benefit the Theodore Jasieniecki Scholarship Fund.

Following the basketball games, there will be an opportunity to mingle at a party at Senorita’s, located at 285 Glenwood Ave. in Bloomfield. The party will include endless chips and dip, and a buffet style dinner, featuring salad and a hard and soft taco bar with chicken, beef and pork with all of the traditional fixings along with a side of rice and beans, the release said. For an additional $10, guests over the age of 21 can purchase a wristband for beer and wine.
