The 11th Annual Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale, sponsored by Audrey & Norbert Gaelen of Short Hills, will open on Sunday, May 16 and run through Thursday, June 17 at the Gaelen Gallery West of the Lautenberg Family JCC, Aidekman Family Campus, 901 Route 10 East, Whippany. This year 82 pieces by 57 artists will be featured in the following media: Drawing, Mixed Media, Oil/Acrylic Painting, Photography, Sculpture, and Watercolor.

An Opening Reception, by invitation only, will be held on Sunday, May 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Best in Show, Best in Medium, and Honorable Mention cash awards will be presented in six categories at 1:30 pm. The Gaelens will also present a specially designed glass gift to each of the juried winners. This year's distinguished panel of judges includes: Anne Betty Weinshenker, Professor of Art History and Program Chair, Montclair State University; Walter Zimmerman, Crafts Professor, University of the Arts, Philadelphia; and Patterson Sims, Freelance Curator and Writer and Former Director of the Montclair Art Museum.

Most of the art in this highly selective and prestigious show is for sale. An artist resource book with information about each artist will be available. Each guest receives a free, full color, illustrated catalog.

Audrey & Norbert Gaelen are connoisseurs of fine art who are long-time supporters of JCC MetroWest and the United Jewish Communities of MetroWest. This show is the continued realization of their dream to offer talented and creative artists in the surrounding community a unique venue for their art. Members of the Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale Committee include: Gary Denburg, Simon Leventhal, Fred Markowitz, DorisAnn Markowitz, Bernard Morcheles, Lois Dyer, and Julie Levine. The Gaelen Juried Art Show Coordinator is Lisa Suss.

The exhibition is free and open to the public May 16 through June 17. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-10:00 pm; Friday and Sunday, 9:00 am-6:00 pm.
