You are invited to join a free Conservancy hike and explore the many beautiful spots in the South Mountain Reservation. No need to register; just come to the meeting point a little before the starting time. Steady rain automatically cancels a walk, intermittent showers do not.
The Rahway River for children ages 7-10 with adults: We will walk along the west branch of the Rahway River and see the ghost pond that disappeared during hurricane Floyd as well as a farmers pond that is in the process of disappearing and Campbell’s Pond, where once a paper mill stood. Meet at Dogwood Hill, a large parking area on the west side of Brookside Drive, 0.6 miles south of the light on S. Orange Ave. or 1.0 miles north of the light on Glen Ave. just north of the Papermill Playhouse. An information bulletin board is fairly obvious from the Drive. About 2 and a half miles at an easy to moderate pace. Leader: Dave Hogenauer : cell on day of hike only: 973-901-0824
For information before the day of the hike, leave a message at (866) 845-8308, ext 1 and the hike leader will get back to you.
