August is New Jersey Peach Month, and the Millburn Farmers Market will be celebrating a little early with a peach festival.
The festival will be held on Tuesday, July 27, and the market is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festivities starts at 10 a.m., and the market is held in Municipal Lot #1 at Essex and Main streets. New Jersey farms are one of the biggest producers of peaches, and the event is sponsored by the New Jersey Peach Council.
Among the planned events are a food demo by Osteria Mediterrania (10 a.m. to noon), a tasting by Epicerie Fine (noon to 1 p.m.) and a sampling of peach gelato by Cafe Luna (while it lasts) (noon to 1 p.m.). Peach samples will be provided all day at Ort and Alstede farms' stands and there will be peach pie tasting at Vacchiano Farm and Gina's Bakery stands. Hoboken Farms will provide a pairing for peaches.
