The start time for this year’s parade will be moved up to 6:30 pm; participants are asked to assemble at fire headquarters, on the Douglas Street side beginning at 6:00 pm. There is also a new route for this year’s parade. In previous years the parade traveled from fire headquarters east on Essex Street to Main Street than south on Main Street to Millburn Avenue and west to the high school where costume judging took place. This year the parade will leave fire headquarters and travel down Douglas Street to Millburn Avenue than proceed east on Millburn Avenue to Whittingham Terrace and finally into Taylor Park where costume judging will take place in the assembly room of the Bauer Community Center. As in previous years, apple cider, fresh doughnuts and goody bags will be served and distributed at the end of the parade.
There will be 4 groups for participants in the parade to select from; Group 1 will be all participants through the age of 5 years; Group 2 will be for participants from 6 thru 13 years old, Group 3 will be for participants age 14 and above and Group 4 will be for hand drawn floats. Each group will be judged individually and there will be a first, second and third place prize awarded in each group. There will be no provision for motorized vehicles in the parade except for sanctioned police, fire and EMS vehicles.
