In Concert - Buffalo Springfield & Poco founder RICHIE FURAY with Pete Fornatale

Rock Historian and FM radio legend
Pete Fornatale returns to The Sanctuary At TBJ on Saturday, November 12^th,
2011 to open a concert by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Richie Furay.  Fornatale will perform his new presentation
called “Old Friends”.  His program is
based largely on the 70^th birthday of many classic rockers including
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.  The
legendary DJ will then co-host the music show and introduce Richie Furay and
his band.

 Richie Furay, a pioneering force in rock and country music  was a founding member of BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD,
POCO and SHF.

BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD began in 1967 with
Richie and his best friends, Stephen Stills and Neil Young.  The group’s debut album included the hit
single “For What It’s Worth” which featured Furay’s unmistakable voice for much
of the record.  After almost 45 years,
BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD reunited this past year and performed several shows on the West
Coast.

 USA Today featured the groups’ reunion in a lengthy article and wrote “(Stephen)
Stills’ high lonesome voice anchored Rock
and Roll Woman, while (Neil) Young’s distinctive cry lit up Burned. But Richie Furay, who stood center stage, reminded everyone he was the
lynchpin. His plaintive tone, painting songs such as Kind Woman, Do I Have to Come
Right Out and Say It and Sad Memory
were sung with a soulful brush that had women in the largely Baby Boomer crowd
doe-eyed.”

Furay’s nfluence on rock and roll goes well beyond BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD.  After that group disbanded, Furay formed
POCO, one of the first “Country Rock” Bands with Jim Messina.  POCO’s unique sound set the stage for bands
like The Eagles as well the “rock” music that now dominates the modern country
music market of the 21^st century.

Fornatale, one of Furay’s biggest supporters and the author of the liner notes for several
of his albums remains on FM Radio to this day where he appears on WFUV-FM (90.7)
for a weekly show called Mixed Bag that can be heard from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on
Saturdays His on-air sessions frequently feature Furay’s music.  . Fornatale’s career launched on WNEW-FM
progressive rock radio in the late 1960’s in New York City. Fornatale is also the author
of several books, including The Rock Music
Source Book, Radio in the Television Age, The Story of Rock ‘n’ Roll and All You Need is Love.  He was also the primary writer of the Elvis Collection, a 600 piece trading
card series on the life of Elvis Presley. He has written numerous radio and television
features, including the syndicated Rock
Calendar, several episodes of MTV’s Rock
Influences and the international television series Déjà View.  His well-received
latest book, Back to the Garden: The
Story of Woodstock, is now out in paperback.

 In a recent interview Pete stated “There are
only a handful of performers that started out in the 60’s who are still at the
TOP of their game in 2012.  Richie Furay
heads the list.”

 Furay’s stoic, almost spiritual stage presence will send chills down your spine as you
listen to the Richie Furay Band rock out 44 years worth of his music.

 As an added treat, Alan Zweibel, an original Saturday Night Live writer, and a
well known comedy actor, author and local NJ resident will also make an
appearance NOT live and in person as he is already committed to another
engagement.  Rather, he will participate
by video on this great night as part of Pete Fornatale’s opening presentation
and will have you laughing in the aisles.

So come out and join members of your community for this benefit concert show whose
proceeds aid local charities and worthwhile recipients. You will never see The
Sanctuary At TBJ in Short Hills in the same way again after being at this show.
