New Eyes for the Needy will hold its second annual Kids Rock for Vision concert on Saturday, March 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Summit. Once again, the concert will be sponsored by The School of Rock Music, Chatham. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 2:30 p.m. All proceeds from the concert go directly to purchase new prescription eyeglasses for poor children living in the United States.
The concert will bring together local talented teens and their bands to sing and play for better vision for poor children. Sam Taggart, a Summit resident and high school senior at Morristown-Beard High School, is chairing the concert committee of over 20 teens from around the area.
"We sold out last year's concert raising $8,000 that helped purchase 125 pairs of glasses for kids around the country who otherwise couldn't afford them"," said Sam. "We hope we can do even more this year. There will be a few changes and a few more bands so the audience can get an even better show." Sam added that "the purchase of three tickets, or a $60 dollar donation, will buy a new pair of eyeglasses to help a child in need."
