Historical Tour: Meet at Brahmall Terrace for a 2 mile stroll through the past over mostly easy terrain with one fairly steep uphill climb. We will visit the second piece of property purchased for the park and talk about how the park was formed. We will look at the pits dug by Maplewoodians in the early 1800's hoping to find copper. We will see some of the work the CCC did in the park. And more. Brahmall Terrace is the lookout to NYC on Crest Drive 0.3 miles in from South Orange Ave. starting near the crest of the mountain just beyond the high rise apartment building. Leader: Dave Hogenauer: cell on day of hike only: 973-901-0824.
No need to register; just come to the meeting point a little before the starting time. Steady rain automatically cancels a walk, intermittent showers do not. For information before the day of the hike, leave a message at (866) 845-8308, ext 1 and the hike leader will get back to you.
