Farm-to-Table is Always Best!

St. Rose of Lima Academy, Short Hills holds a Farmer's Market and cooking demonstration for students and teachers.

At a recent assembly, sponsored by the St. Rose of Lima Academy, Home School Association; students and teachers were able to experience a colorful day at the SRLA Farmer’s Market. Here they were able to “shop” the market, sample seasonal produce from Alstede Farms, and choose a fruit and vegetable to bring home in their very own reusable tote bag!

Students and teachers were also treated to a special “Cooking with Color” farm-to-table demonstration by Galen Zamarra, SRLA Parent, renown chef, and owner of NYC’s Mas Farmhouse. Chef Galen taught everyone how to make a colorful vegetable soup, using fresh, seasonal produce from local farms. Students learned what gives food its color and that cooking fresh tastes great! Farm to table is always best!
