Free Half-Day Caregiver Conference presented by Alzheimer's New Jersey

Alzheimer's Disease: Approaches to Care. A Union and Essex County Caregiver Conference. Saturday, November 5, 2016.

Alzheimer's New Jersey – in conjunction with Union County Division on Aging / Aging, Disability and Resource Connection, the Essex County Department of Citizen Services, Division on Aging, and Union County College – will present a half-day program for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia on Saturday, November 5, 2016, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Union County College Roy Smith Theatre, 1033 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, NJ 07016.

The program – given annually – includes breakfast and resource tables with vital information for caregivers in addition to featured speakers from Saint Barnabas Medical Center and local law firm Schenk, Price, Smith and King. There is no fee for attending this program. Those interested in attending must pre-register with the Alzheimer's New Jersey by calling 1-888-280-6055.

The annual Union and Essex County conference, this year titled “Alzheimer’s Disease: Approaches to Care”, will have adult day care service provided during the workshop by the Union County Department of Human Services Division on Aging at the Gateway Family YMCA’s W.I.S.E. Adult Day Center. Families must pre-arrange this service when registering for the conference. This free half-day conference for family caregivers will provide a thorough overview of Alzheimer’s disease with a focus on care and treatment options, and offer the opportunity to ask questions of the presenting physician. The conference will also address the importance of legal and financial planning for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families, and provide the opportunity to ask questions of the presenting attorney. Additionally, access to key community agencies will be promoted through the many resource tables at the event.

While there is no fee for attending, those who wish to participate must register in advance by calling Alzheimer’s New Jersey at 1-888-280-6055.
