Free Millburn Walking Club Kicks Off In 2 Weeks

You can walk around the South Mountain reservoir each week with the Millburn Health Department's free walking club.

MILLBURN, NJ — Want to get out of the house, get some exercise, and maybe have a nice talk with new friends? The Millburn Health Department will offer a free Walking Club this fall for residents 18 and over.

The club will meet on Fridays starting Sept. 9 to walk around the reservoir at the South Mountain Recreation Complex, located in West Orange.

Currently, wearing masks at any walks is optional but subject to change. All participants will be kept informed of any changes to Covid-19 guidelines, and guidance from the New Jersey Department of Health will be followed.

The walks will run from 10 to 11 a.m. from Sept. 9 to Nov. 4.

The Health Department said, "Walking is a great way to get some exercise and offers many health benefits: It can help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce joint pain, improve balance, lower the risk of high blood pressure, and more."

The group will meet in the parking lot of McLoone's boat house and walk 1.75 miles around the reservoir. The reservoir is located at 9 Cherry Lane in West Orange.
