Gina's Bakery Closes

Owners cite tough economy; Montclair shop remains open.

Gina's Bakery closed its downtown Millburn location this week, leaving a goodbye note on the door and baked goods in the display case.

The note says that the store had to close "due to economic imperatives."

"We are sorry you will not be in our daily lives," the note says. "...Once again thank you for all the support you have shown us."

The bakery opened less than a year ago, in November, after having a booth at the Millburn Farmer's Market for a couple of years. All of the baking was done at its sister location in Montclair, which remains open, and items were brought to Millburn each morning.

"If there are any special orders that we can accommodate, please feel free to call our Montclair location," the note says.
