'I Want To Make Love To You' Millburn Teacher Told Minor: Report

MILLBURN, NJ - The 57-year old Monroe Township charged with making sexual overtures towards one of his students exchanged private text messages, emails and sent gifts to her home, according to a report by the Record.

Millburn High School teacher Joseph Pedulla was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a student at Millburn High School, according to Millburn Police Chief Brian Gilfedder.

The Record report states that Pedulla and the student used to meet during her free time to chat and texted. Before his arrest he hugged the student and said "I want to make love to you," the report said.

According to Assistant Prosecutor Jenna Gouck when Pedulla made sexual overtures to the juvenile victim, she reported it to Millburn Police.

According to Millburn Superintendent Christine Burton, the district is aware of the situation and the administration is working with authorities on the matter.

"We cannot comment at this time as this is a personnel matter," she said in an email to Patch. "We will share information in the future as we are able."

Pedulla was placed on leave and still emailed the victim and sent a flower, balloon, pastry and a note to her home, the report said.

Pedulla is in custody at Essex County Jail and has a detention hearing scheduled for today.
