Library to Close for Renovations
The building will be closed for one week during the school recess

The Millburn Free Public Library will be closed for a week starting Feb. 16 so a $180,000 renovation project can be completed, according to a township press release.
The library will be closed through Feb. 22 and re-open on Feb. 23. It's the same week as the school district's winter recess. The funding was approved in 2008.
During the time the library is closed, new furniture and fixtures will be installed in the adult and children's departments on the main floor and mezzanine levels, the press release said. Updated and new electrical and data connections will be installed, which will cause considerable noise and dust and require carpet and tile replacement.

Project leaders purchased the furnishings through a state contract from Library Interiors of Brick, the press release states, and all of the desks and seats that have been in use since the library opened in 1977 will be replaced.
No fines will accrue during the time the library is closed, the press release said, but items borrowed from other libraries will be subject to fines and fees based on those libraries' policies. Items still can be returned while the library is closed via the drive-up bins in the parking lot and the return slot near the rear entrance.

Millburn patrons have walk-in privileges at the Livingston Public Library and the Summit Public Library, according to the press release. Those planning to use the Summit library for the first time must be in good standing in Millburn, the press release said.
