Looking for Retailers on Millburn Avenue

The building that once housed Magnolias Day Spa is being reduced in space and is open for lease.

Workers have been reconstructing the building adjacent to the Verizon building on Millburn Avenue for months, prompting questions from many on what is moving into the space.

The building last was occupied by Magnolias Day Spa, but the space has been vacant since 2006.

A sign hangs on the front of the building, which is owned by 382 Millburn Associates of West Orange, referring people to call the Goldstein Group in Paramus to lease the space. No one answered the phone at the Goldstein Group in several attempts to reach someone there.

Harold Klein, Downtown Millburn Development Alliance executive director, said he has not heard of the space being leased. No applications have been filed with the township for any use of the space.

The owners for the property gained approval for the construction last December after hearings that started in September before the Planning Board.

According to the resolution for approval, the plan is to reduce the space of the building from 10,000 square feet to 6,180 square feet. The owners said they were unsuccessful in marketing the space for lease and determined its size was a deterrent.

The building would also be split into two 3,090 square foot units, and the parking would be increased from seven to 17 spaces in the rear.
