Girl, 14, Charged In Gunpoint Carjacking Of Porsche: Millburn Police

Police have charged a 14-year-old girl in a gunpoint carjacking in Millburn that took place in February, they said.

MILLBURN, NJ — Police have charged a 14-year-old girl in a carjacking at gunpoint in that town in February, they said Tuesday.

On Feb. 13, Millburn Police responded to a Millburn home in the neighborhood near the Maplewood border, on a report of an armed carjacking.

The resident reported that he pulled up and parked on the street in front of his house, and near his driveway was group of five young males and two young females.

He said one of the perpetrators — wearing black pants and black puffy jacket, possibly 18-22 years old — approached and pointed a black handgun at him, demanding the keys to his vehicle, a 2018 black Porsche Macan.

The victim turned over his keys and the Porsche sped away. It was found in Jersey City two days later.

In a twist, on Tuesday, Millburn police said the main suspect in the incident was a juvenile female, 14, from Newark.

"After a lengthy investigation, Detectives Royce and DeRosa were able to identify and locate the main gunman in this incident," they said. "On June 10, 2022, a juvenile female, 14 years old of Newark, was taken into custody and charged."

She was charged with:

  • Juvenile delinquency
  • Carjacking
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Terroristic threats
  • Fencing
  • Conspiracy, and
  • Weapons offenses

A second juvenile has been identified but remains at large, police said. The investigation is continuing.
