Malinowski To Talk Taxes In Millburn Saturday
District 7's representative wants to help reduce burden caused by SALT deduction changes to the tax law. .

MILLBURN, NJ - Those frustrated by the loss of their State and Local Tax (SALT) tax deduction by the changes in the federal tax code can share their stories directly with District 7 Congressman Tom Malinowski on Saturday.
With tax season upon us, and district seven residents already feeling the sting of lower than expected refunds, Congress is poised to take action, officials said.
For his part, Malinowski will tour the district to hear from local residents on the loss of their SALT deductions, the impact it has had on their bottom line, and to receive feedback on the best approach forward to ease the tax burden on our residents.

The SALT deduction traditionally was deducting real estate taxes as well as either income taxes or sales taxes paid to state and local governments. Changes to the tax code capped that deduction at $10,000 per household. In high tax states like New Jersey, the loss of that deduction is reducing returns in the Garden State.
Malinowski will be discussing this issue with local communities throughout tax season, and the first three stops are in Westfield, Millburn, and High Bridge.
