Memoir Writing Class at Millburn Library in June 2018

The Millburn Library will be holding a 4 week memoir writing class taught by Theresa Burns in June.

The Millburn Free Public Library is pleased to offer a Memoir Writing Class in June, 2018. The classes will be held on Tuesday evenings, from 6:30-8:00pm, on the following dates: June 5, 12, 19, 26.

There are many ways to write about a life: a book-length project to be shared with children or grandchildren; first-person narratives about pivotal events or experiences; prose poems. In this workshop, we will share our life stories and receive encouragement and critique on them. In-class exercises and prompts will take writers in unexpected directions. No prior writing experience is required.

This class will be taught by Theresa Burns. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Her poems, reviews and nonfiction have appeared in The New York Times, Prairie Schooner, Bellevue Literary Review, New Ohio Review and upstreet, among other places. An in-house book editor for nearly 20 years, Burns is the author of the book Two Train Town (2017) and has taught writing at Seton Hall University, FIT and the 92nd Street Y.
