Millburn Area Nonprofit Helps Terminal Patients Preserve Their Stories

Our memories can live on past our deaths, Millburn. You just have to know how to preserve them.

MILLBURN, NJ — Our memories can live on past our deaths, Millburn. You just have to know how to preserve them.

On Sunday, April 2, Flywheel Millburn will host a fundraiser for unique, local non-profit Memories Live with a “high-energy cycling class” at its 351 Millburn Avenue location at 1 p.m.

Proceeds will go directly to Memories Live, a North Jersey nonprofit organization that helps people with life-limiting illnesses to preserve their images, stories and wisdom through the creation of custom movies.

The nonprofit was founded by Millburn resident Kerry Glass in response to the untimely death of a local young mother who suffered from lung cancer, leaving behind two young children and a devastated husband, according to organizers.

“Drawing on Glass’s experience as an art therapist and her passion for movie making, Glass was inspired to create a medium that would help other families in similar situations eternally capture the reflections of their loved ones with terminal illnesses,” event organizers said.

Based in Northern New Jersey, Memories Live serves clients throughout the Tri-State area regardless of their socio-economic status and provides its services free of charge. To date, the organization has created over 120 films, most often for clients with an average age of 50, who are battling cancer.
