The field will be installed behind the Millburn Library this fall.

MILLBURN, NJ - The early bird, in this case, gets the unanimous vote to provide a turf field behind the Millburn Public Library.

According to officials an 8 a.m. meeting yielded a unanimous vote by the Millburn Township Committee to authorize a bond ordinance to the tune of $870,000.

The money will be used to install the turf athletic field at the Library and the construction of a parking lot adjacent.

Millburn Township Mayor Dianne Thall Eglow told Patch she is very excited about the new turf field that is scheduled for this Fall install at the Millburn Library field.

"This is the first turf field to be approved in over 10 years, this will increase playing time availability, as well as a much safer surface. This was a joint effort by so many and I want to particularly thank Bob Hogan, and all the Recreation Commissioners along with the BOE," she said. "This was truly a collaboration with myself and the Town Administrator, to move this project so quickly and smoothly for the benefit of all the township’s athletes."
