A Millburn Board of Education member has resigned. Here's how you can apply to take his place.

MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn Board of Education member Michael King has resigned. Here’s how you can apply to take his place.
District administrators announced Wednesday that King has resigned “due to his family's relocation out of state by the end of the school year.” His departure will leave an immediate vacancy for a seat on the board.
The board anticipates making the appointment at their May 21 meeting, administrators said.

According to the Millburn Public School District:
“The individual selected will serve as a member of the Board of Education from the date of appointment through December 31, 2018. The position will be placed on the ballot at the annual election in November 2018, to fulfill the reminder of the term for one-year (January 2019 to December 2019).”
Interested individuals must be:

- A citizen of the United States of America
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to read and write
- A resident of Millburn Township for at least one year preceding the date of appointment
- Not directly/indirectly interested in a contract with or a claim against the board
- Registered to vote in the district
- Not disqualified as a voter pursuant to NJSA 19:4-1
The successful candidate will need to undergo a criminal history background check upon appointment, Millburn school administrators said.
Any qualified Millburn resident interested in serving should submit a letter of interest and resume to cheryl.schneider@millburn.org, or via mail to: Ms. Cheryl Schneider, Business Administrator/Board Secretary, Millburn Board of Education, 434 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, NJ 07041.
Letters of application will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15. The Board of Education will review all qualifying applicants.
Candidates will be offered the opportunity to make a three-minute public statement at two upcoming Board of Education meetings:
- Monday, May 7 - 7:45 pm
- Monday, May 21 - 7:45 pm
