In Millburn: Car Burglaries, DUI, Credit Card Fraud, Sunglasses Theft, Warrant Arrests

Police Blotter: July 7 to 13

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Millburn police blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On July 7, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to two reports of burglaries to motor vehicles located on Berkeley and Ridgewood Rd. The residents reported that various items were taken from the vehicles which were parked in their driveways during the afternoon. The incidents are under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 7, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Manuyag responded to the Mall at Short Hills on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle reported parking the vehicle for several hours during the day, and upon returning to the vehicle found the passenger window smashed and a handbag missing. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 7, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Freem stopped a Nissan Maxima on JFK Pkwy northbound. The driver of the vehicle, 21 year old Miriam Gerges out of Livingston, was found to have warrants for her arrest from Madison, Beachwood, and Dennis Township. Gerges was placed under arrest and issued a summons for careless driving. Gerges was released on her own recognizance with new court dates.

On July 7, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Lanni stopped a Chevy Lumina on Duncan St. after a record check showed the owner of the vehicle had a warrant for her arrest. The driver of the vehicle, 33 year old Gloria Waldron out of Newark, had a warrant for her arrest out of Mt Olive. The passenger of the vehicle, 31 year old Kyshael Ivery out of Newark, was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of Elizabeth. Waldron and Ivery were placed under arrest and transported to Millburn headquarters. Waldron was issued summonses for revoked driving and uninsured vehicle. Waldron and Ivery were released on their own recognizance with new court dates.

On July 8, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to Sunglass Hut at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Sunglass Hut personnel report the theft of 2 pair of sunglasses, valued at $600, from a display. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 9, 2015, Millburn Police Sergeant Delrusso stopped a Jeep Cherokee on Parkview Rd after observing several traffic violations. The investigation led to the arrest of 22 year old John Arnold out of Millburn for driving under the influence. The driver was issued summonses for driving under the influence and for disregarding a traffic control device. The driver was released pending a court date.

On July 10, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Silance responded to The Mall at Short Hills on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The mall patron reported noticing a handbag missing from her vehicle when she returned from shopping. No damage to the vehicle was reported. The incident is under investigation.

On July 13, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Tichenor responded to Sydney Thomas at The Mall at Short Hills on a fraud report. Sydney Thomas personnel reported that a male tried to purchase a $8,200 watch with a fraudulent credit card. The transaction was declined and the actor fled the store. The incident is under investigation.
