13-Year-Old Held At Gunpoint In Millburn Carjacking: Cops

A New Jersey family returning from vacation after Thanksgiving weekend was carjacked at gunpoint in their driveway, police say.

SHORT HILLS, NJ — An Essex County family returning from vacation after Thanksgiving weekend was carjacked at gunpoint in their driveway early Monday morning. The suspects made off with one their Range Rovers and cash, authorities say.

According to the Millburn Police Department, the carjacking took place at 1:51 a.m. on Monday in Short Hills as a family returned to their Addison Drive home. As they unpacked their two SUVs, a pair of men in hooded sweatshirts with partially concealed faces approached them and demanded they hand over the keys to the vehicles and their cash.

While one of the suspects brandished a handgun, the other man grabbed a 13-year-old member of the family and held them until the keys and cash were handed over. The men escaped the scene in one of the Range Rovers and another waiting vehicle, police stated.

Authorities later recovered the stolen SUV in Newark, police said.

Neither the teen or the other adult victims - two women and a man - were injured during the encounter, Millburn police stated.
