In Millburn: Celebrate Spring at the MMS Chorus Concert

The free public concert will feature a diverse mixture of songs; See the list here.

This year’s annual Spring Chorus Concert at Millburn Middle School on Tuesday, May 19, will be marked by one word… diversity.

The program will be presented in the Middle School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.

  • A traditional Zulu Dowry Song entitled Amavolovolo
  • A haunting tribute in memory of a young victim of a Nazi concentration camp
  • “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake
  • “God Help the Outcasts” from the Disney animated feature “The Hunchback of Notre Dame
  • A Sephardic lullaby, sung in Landino, entitled “Durme, Durme”
  • An arrangement of two American traditional songs combined, “Ching A Ring Chaw” and “That Great Getting’ up Mornin,’”
  • A classic operatic choral piece from Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly,” The Humming Chorus
  • “Alleluia” composed by W.A. Mozart
  • The Rhythm of Life, from the Cy Coleman musical “Sweet Charity”
  • Ricevete from Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro”
  • An a cappella arrangement of “Happy Together,” the 1967 hit by the Turtles
  • “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd”

Student accompanists for the choruses are eighth-grader Eric Wang and seventh-graders Aneesha Kumra, Owen Zhou, Allison Wang and Amanda Huang. Also featured will be Annie Liu, flute, Arnold Jiu and Henry Liu, violin, John Sanchez, viola, Kevin Wang, cello, and Tejas Gupta, Josh Park, Ethan Steinberg, and Adam Wacks, percussion. Stefanie Watson will provide additional piano accompaniment for the choruses.

The Sixth Grade Chorus is under the direction of Christopher Capone, and David Huneryager conducts the Seventh Grade, Eighth Grade, and Select Choruses.
