Millburn Choses New Board Of Ed Members
John Westfall-Kwong and Sonali Ganti will be sworn in at the Jan. 28 Board of Education Meeting.

MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn Board of Education will soon by firing on all cylinders as two new members are scheduled to be sworn in during the Jan. 28 Board of Education meeting.
John Westfall-Kwong and Sonali Ganti have been chosen to fill the vacancies left by the abrupt resignation of Kate Foss and Jennifer Woodhouse in December. Both women cited personal reasons for leaving. A total of 11 Millburn residents applied and gave statements of interest and qualification for the positions.
“It was inspiring to see so many people who represent the depth of talent, dedication and vision in the community express an interest in serving their community, and share the gifts they can each bring to our schools and to the Board of Education,” said Superintendent Christine Burton.

Out of all the candidates, the Board selected Westfall-Kwong and Ganti to fill the two vacant seats for the coming year.
According to officials, both Westfall-Kwong and Ganti are longtime school and community volunteers. Westfall-Kwong served on the Board of Education from 2013 to 2016, with one year as President. Ganti has been PTO President at Hartshorn and Millburn High School.
Officials said their school district experience will serve the Board well.

The Board expressed thanks to Philip Choong, Simon Heaton, Jordana Horn, Praveen Kandula, Ranjeeta Nanda, David Schlossman, Jyoti Sharma, Cate Smith and Jing Wen for their enthusiasm and commitment and said they look forward to working with them and harnessing their power and engagement in school district initiatives, and perhaps on the ballot, in the future.
