Millburn Cops: Employee Tried To Steal 23 Pairs Of Shoes At Short Hills Mall
Millburn police arrested a Bloomingdale's employee after he allegedly tried to steal 23 pairs of shoes and give pursuing officers the slip.

MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn police arrested a Bloomingdale’s employee last week after he allegedly tried to steal 23 pairs of shoes valued at $8,470 and escape officers by hiding under a stairwell, authorities say.
According to the Millburn Police Department, officers responded to the Bloomingdale’s at the Mall At Short Hills on May 26 after receiving a report of an employee detained for alleged theft.
After police arrived on the scene, the employee, Ray Joseph, 19, of Vauxhall, ran from store security personnel and attempted to escape the mall on foot. The officers gave chase, eventually finding Joseph trying to hide under a stairwell at 101 JFK Parkway, authorities said.

Joseph allegedly tried to steal the shoes by hiding them in his car, police said.
Police charged Joseph with shoplifting, possession of a CDS (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from custody on a summons.
