Millburn Cops Make 5 Marijuana Arrests In 4 Days

Several of the arrests reportedly began with motor vehicle violations, Millburn police say.

MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn police made five marijuana-related arrests in the township over a four-day period last month, several of which reportedly began with motor vehicle violations.

According to the Millburn Police Department, the following incidents recently took place in the township:

  • On August 23, a Millburn police officer stopped a 2012 Nissan Maxima near 304 Essex Street after the vehicle allegedly made a U-turn and was facing the wrong way. The investigation led to the arrest of the three occupants, all residents of Brooklyn, NY, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school. The suspects were released with a court date.
  • On August 23, a Millburn police officer stopped a 2015 Toyota Corrola on Old Short Hills Road for having tinted windows. The investigation led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Lincoln Park man for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana). He was released with a court date.
  • On August 24, a Millburn police officer stopped a 2008 BMW 328 on JFK Pkwy near the mall for not having a front license plate. The investigation led to the arrest of the driver, a 22-year-old Union man for an active warrant out of that municipality. He was also found to be in possession of a bag of suspected marijuana, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and was turned over to the Union Police Department.
  • On August 25, a Millburn police sergeant stopped a 2008 Honda Fit on Wyoming/Maple for an inoperable headlight. The investigation led to the arrest of a 30-year-old South Orange woman for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released with a summons.
  • On August 26, a Millburn police officer observed a 2003 Acura parked in a fire lane behind 363 Millburn Avenue with one occupant inside. An investigation led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Plainfield man for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a court date.
