Millburn Millers Take Home Seven Medals
Freshman and sophomores fencers take home medals in Montclair tournament.
Thirty-three freshman and sophomore members of the Millburn Fencing team competed in the Montclair Invitational at Montclair High School on Sunday, Feb. 10.
The Millers competed with fencers from other high schools including Montclair, Governor Livingston, St. Peters Prep, West Windsor PB-North, West Windsor PB-South, Chatham, Livingston, Moorestown, Gill St. Bernards, Oak Knoll, West Essex, Newark Academy and St. Augustine Prep.
The Millers took home seven medals from the event. Winning gold medals were sophomore Alex Brod in men's foil and freshman Alex Ren in men's foil. Jacqueline Zhu took home the silver medal in women's sophomore epee. Bronze medals were won by sophomore Jan Piotrowiak in mens' foil, Drew Vreeland in sophomore men's saber, Michael Tai and Misheel Boldbaatar in freshman men's foil.

Several members finished top ten in their events including freshman Simon Yang, men's epee, freshmen Ethan Hu, Elliot Sotnick and Jordan Gaelen in men's foil, sophomore Naya Ubushin in women's epee and sophomore Jordan Hsu in women's saber.
Several Millburn upper-classmen, including Alec Tabatchnick, Dan Dembner, Ben Goldman, Andrew Brod, Andrew Afable, Keshav Gupta, Keegan Caulfield, Carrick Irwin and Alex Holmes served as directors at the tournament.

Next up for Millburn will be the boy's semi-final state playoff against Columbia at New Jersey Fencing Alliance on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 pm.
