Millburn Fire Department Celebrates 150 Years With Open House

Residents can meet local firefighters as the department marks a milestone anniversary and recognizes a dedicated crew.

MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn Fire Department is celebrating 150 years of service, and residents are invited to join the festivities this weekend.

The department's annual open house will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, from noon to 2 p.m. at 459 Essex Street, according to a Township of Millburn Facebook post.

The township is also recognizing Platoon 3, a 10-member crew led by Battalion Chief Tom Pizzano and two captains.

Members have between four and more than 30 years of experience, with professional backgrounds ranging from engineering and nursing to construction, mechanics and fire prevention.

Most of the crew are military veterans. One firefighter recently earned a promotion to first sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard, while another serves on the New Jersey Fire Code Advisory Council. A third firefighter has received multiple lifesaving awards.

The township described Platoon 3 as a close-knit, fun-loving crew whose members are honored to serve the community.

Residents are encouraged to attend Saturday's open house during Fire Prevention Week to support the firefighters and celebrate the department's anniversary.
