Millburn High School Class Of 2019 Launches (Video)
Despite the threat of rain, the Millers were able to celebrate outdoors last week.
MILLBURN, NJ - Despite the threat of rain, Millburn High School's class of 2019 launched successfully thanks to the teachers and staff who coordinate the logistics.
According to Superintendent Christine Burton those professionals as well as the student singers, speakers, videographers and announcers made the event memorable by giving of their time and talents.
Class President Molly Grazioso shared memories of the path she and her classmates have followed in their transition from nervous high school freshmen to young adulthood. Millburn Principal Dr. William Miron asked for a moment of silence in memory of teacher and Coach Carmen Guarino, and spoke to the class about how they have exemplified the traits of resilience, perseverance, and grit.

"I so enjoy shaking the hands of every graduate, and I hope they do follow the suggestion I shared with them to 'Capture opportunities, go out and experience, try, and learn new things. Meet people and go places that you find exciting. It is in those places you might just find your true passion that leads to your bliss.'" Burton said.
According to Burton, each year at graduation a district teacher receives the Sally S. deVeer Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching. Sally deVeer was a Board of Education memberm and parent of two Millburn alumni, whose husband Robert was a member of the MHS class of 1964. The award alternates among high school, middle school and elementary school teachers. This year, the recipient was Millburn Middle School ELL teacher, Dina Tinajero, for her dedication to helping our English language learners thrive.
The district produced a slideshow of the event and the MHS Broadcasting Studio 462 recorded the entire evening for posterity.
