Millburn High School Students Start Magazine, Win Award
Write on! The MHS students' literary magazine earned a national honor, and the Black Student Union created a new magazine.

MILLBURN, NJ — Apparently, a group of young scribes at Millburn High School has the write stuff.
Millburn Superintendent of Schools Superintendent Dr. Christine Burton reported in her recent newsletter that the school's literary magazine, Word, recently won a Columbia Scholastic Silver Medal for its 2019 edition.
Meanwhile, the school's Black Student Union created a new magazine called The Dream.

"Please take a few minutes to read this powerful publication, sharing student voices and vision," Burton wrote. "Thanks to Anne-Marie Akoh, Daniela Akoh, Bervelie Julien and Jade Wicker for this inspirational project."
As for the Word literary magazine, Burton reported that the editors of the winning publication from 2019, Kate Kost and Sarah Tham, have graduated.

"But the current editors in chief, Purnima Palaway & Livia McGuire, along with the whole Word staff, are visibly thrilled," she noted.
We'll look for them in the New Yorker, or even better, maybe someday in Millburn Patch?
