Millburn High School Students Win Awards In Regional Art Contest

Winners of the 2015 Northern NJ Region Scholastic Art and Writing Awards will be honored this week at the Montclair Art Museum.

Millburn High School students have won 53 awards in a regional art competition, and many of those students will be honored at the local art museum later this week.

The work of some of the winners will now be judged for national awards, according to a news release posted on the school district’s website.

The students won 15 Gold Key awards, 19 Silver Key awards and 19 Honorable Mention awards in the 2015 Northern NJ Region Scholastic Art and Writing competition.

Winners in the writing categories have not yet been announced. There were more than 3,750 submissions for the regional contest, which has 28 categories of competition, including photography, jewelry, comic art and sculpture, the district’s news release said.

A reception for the Gold and Silver Key winners and their teachers will be held Thursday at the Montclair Art Museum, according to the news release. Artwork that earned Gold Key awards will then be on display at the museum through March 22.

The Gold Key winners will now compete in the national contest. Winners of those awards will be announced next month.

On March 16, Millburn High School will hold a ceremony to honor all of its award-winning students. A list of the regional winners is posted on the district’s website.
