In Millburn: Home Burglary On Brookside, Stolen Cars, $3,300 Handbag Shoplifting
Police Blotter: June 30 to July 7

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Millburn police blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On June 30, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Tavares responded to headquarters on a report by a resident of 806 Morris Turnpike of a burglary to his vehicle sometime overnight. The resident reports his vehicle was locked when he was leaving for work in the morning, however he noticed his backpack was missing later in the day. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On July 1, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Tichenor responded to Nordstroms at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report that occurred on 6/24/15. Nordstrom personnel report they observed a female select a handbag valued at $3,300 and leave the store without making payment. Nordstrom personnel stopped the individual outside of the store and retrieved the handbag, however the actor fled. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 1, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Kaiser responded to CVS at 187 Millburn Ave on a theft report. CVS personnel reported that a male concealed $177 worth of batteries in a bag and fled the store. Detective Johnson and Officer Lipke stopped Troy Johnson, 47, of Irvington, and after an investigation placed him under arrest. Johnson was charged with shoplifting and turned over to Irvington Police Department on an outstanding warrant.
On July 2, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Pinero responded to Macy’s at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Macy’s personnel report Marquis Hayes, 25, of Newark, concealed five articles of clothing valued at $441 and left the store without making payment. Hayes was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. Hayes was released pending a court date.

On July 2, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to a Brookside Drive residence on a report of a burglary which took place during the day. The resident reports unknown actors gained entry to her residence by forcing open a rear door. An unknown amount of jewelry was taken. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On July 3, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Lipke responded to a Joanna Way residence on a report of a stolen motor vehicle which occurred overnight. The resident reports his 2014 Jeep was taken from his driveway. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On July 5, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Hay responded to Gucci at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Gucci personnel report the theft of four articles of clothing valued at $1,525 from displays. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On July 7, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Cassels responded to a Woodfield Drive residence on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The resident reported seeing two males inside his vehicle parked in his driveway at 3:44 a.m. The resident yelled at the actors who fled east on Parsonage Hill Road in a dark-colored vehicle. The resident reported that nothing was taken. The incident is under investigation.
On July 7, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to an Old Short Hills residence on a report of a stolen motor vehicle which occurred overnight. The resident reports his 2013 Infiniti was taken from his driveway. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
