Millburn Hosts First Girls Night Out

Prizes, music, food and sales all part Oct. 13 night out downtown.

Listen up, girls – and guys – downtown Millburn’s making it easy for you take a night for yourselves and feel good about it at the same time.

Downtown Millburn retailers and restaurants will host Millburn’s first-ever Girls Night Out, on Oct. 13, wtih some of proceeds going toward the Education Foundation of Millburn Short Hills and the Downtown Millburn Hurricane Relief Fund.

That night, between 5 and 9 p.m., participating Girls Night Out, aka GNO, shops in the Downtown area on Millburn Avenue, Main Street and Essex Street will be open for browsing, tasting and buying.

If you want to be eligible for GNO prizes from , Schultz Furriers and , you should register for the one-night-only event.

Also sponsoring the event are , Millburn’s newest wine store; mom.com, a website that offers savings coupons and discounts to products and services in Northern New Jersey; the gift boutique and the women’s clothing boutique.

“We look forward to hosting the hundreds of girlfriends and men, in groups or individuals, to have dinner, shop in our stores and meet or renew their relationships with the Downtown retail community” said John Buchholz, principal of Buchholz Architectural Group and president of . “We’re particularly delighted by the imagination and generosity of our retailers who have made an important commitment to the success of our first Girls Night Out.”

GNO shoppers who have their registration cards validated by five participating retailers on October 13 will be eligible for raffle prizes drawn that evening. Those prizes include:

  • A $1,500 American Express Travel Package Gift Certificate from Avenue Travel, 313 Millburn Ave.,
  • A shearling fur garment from Schultz Furriers collection, valued at $1,500, 346 Millburn Ave.
  • A custom designed sofa that retails for $1,000 from Interior design firm Contessa Design, 356 Millburn Ave.
  • A gift basket that contains $600 worth of merchandise from , 356 Millburn Ave.
  • An evening dress valued at $400, from .

In addition, Girls Night Out shoppers will have an opportunity to purchase mystery gift bags for $10 each that will contain prizes donated by other participating Downtown Millburn retailers.

Retailers who have donated their products or services are:

  • – artwork valued at $500;
  • –three $100 gift certificates;
  • – three $100 gift certificates;
  • – three $50 gift certificates;
  • – free endermologie treatment, valued at $100;
  • – haircut by stylist Sharon, valued at $25;
  • – Four bags, each with $25 worth of special items;
  • – one dinner for two, valued at $50;
  • – one lunch for four people and one dinner for two people, total value $100;
  • – day of beauty with facial, massage and haircut, valued at $200;
  • – special collection gift, valued at $100;
  • – bird house with stand, valued at $135.

Girls Night Out will offer a pre-registration option, which will allow GNO participants to take part in an exclusive prize drawing. Pre-registration is available at the , Sept. 27 and Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as well as at the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce Art Fair, Sunday, Oct. 2, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registrants will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate for an eforea Spa treatment, courtesy of the Hilton at Short Hills, valued at $150; and one pair of designer sunglasses donated by Eye Q Opticians, valued at $250.

 “In addition to the pleasures of shopping and dining at the Oct. 13 Girls Night Out, we will provide music at various locations throughout the Downtown between 7 and 9 p.m. to add to the evening’s social atmosphere,” said Harry Roth, owner of Eye Q Opticians and Downtown Millburn marketing committee chair.

Award-winning DJ Jack Bermeo of LJ Productions, well-known for his style, humor and exuberance, will be on Main Street between Millburn Avenue and Essex Street, beginning at 7 p.m.
