Authorities are conducting a child welfare investigation after a Millburn police officer found two young children unattended in a car on Labor Day.
The officer allegedly found the children around 5 p.m., watching a movie in an air-conditioned car in the Trader Joe’s parking lot, NorthJersey.com reported.
The mother reportedly came out of the store shortly after the officer arrived on the scene.

According to the National Weather Service, the temperature in the Millburn area reached around 93 degrees at the time of the incident.
