Millburn Library Presents While You're Away: Love Songs of World War 2 by Diane Cypkin

The Millburn Library presents one-woman concert/lecture "While You're Away: Love Songs of WW2" by Dr. Diane Cypkin.

Dr. Diane Cypkin, award-winning professor of Media, Communications, and Visual Arts at Pace University, will be presenting a concert and lecture entitled: While You're Away: Love Songs of World War 2. This show will be held in the Millburn Free Public Library auditorium on Saturday, October 15, at 2 pm.

“Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me),” “You’ll Never Know,” “I’ll Walk Alone”- hear some of the many incomparable love songs exceptionally popular during World War II. Why were they so popular? Who wrote, played, and sang them? Who danced and “romanced” to them? What made them unforgettable both on the fighting and home front? This one woman concert/lecture by Professor Diane Cypkin delves into it all and in the process reveals how the “Spirit” of the time was uplifted by these songs . . . to hope for a time of peace and an end to a terrible and frightening war.

Admission is free and all are welcome. This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Millburn Library. The Millburn Library is located at 200 Glen Ave., Millburn, NJ 07041 and can be reached at 973-376-1006.
