MILLBURN, NJ — A Thursday evening water main break in Millburn caused water pressure drops and affected “quality” in the area, including surrounding towns, authorities said.

There was “no water reported in the South Mountain area of Millburn,” officials stated in an update, adding that New Jersey American Water (NJAW) workers were on the scene and that the water flow had been stopped.

NJAW provided the following update on Thursday:

“New Jersey American Water is currently repairing a water main break in Millburn on Whittingham Terrace between Mountain View Road and Millburn Avenue. About 40 homes near the main break are affected due to the shutoff needed to repair the main. The repairs are expected to take about 5 to 7 hours. Residents in Millburn and Springfield may experience low pressure when using water. We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.”
