On Tuesday, October 23rd at 1:00 p.m., St. Rose of Lima Academy students attended the “Freedom Within” assembly, sponsored by the Millburn Municipal Alliance Committee. Kids today, even young ones, have so many more stressors and anxieties than past generations. Studies show that teaching kids relaxation techniques at an early age can help improve test scores, sleep habits, social skills, and can help build empathy and compassion. Students engaged in a fun musical presentation that combined mindfulness and meditation leaving them focused, relaxed, and with the tools they can use to get themselves back there in the future. Being able to handle stress and anxiety beginning at a young age is one way to prevent the misuse of drugs or alcohol later in life.
