Millburn Police Again Busy at Mall

They report several shoplifting arrests.

The Millburn police were once again at the Mall at Short Hills for several shoplifting arrests over the last week.

On Saturday, a New York woman was arrested for shoplifting at Macy's. Police said Shatara Van Dyke, 26, concealed four pairs of jeans in her purse. The jeans are valued at $480 total.

On Friday, three Brooklyn women were arrested for using fraudulent travelers checks at Victoria's Secret, police said. After a search for the women, they were apprehended at the Hilton Short Hills across from the mall. Natalie Hook, Naomi D. Cowan and Ciera Lomax, each age 21, were charged with conspiracy, forgery, possession of fraudulent checks and theft by deception.

Also on Friday, a Union 16-year-old was arrested at Sephora for shoplifting. She concealed merchandise valued at $56 in her boot before exiting the store, police said.

On Thursday, a Brooklyn man was arrested for shoplifting at Neiman Marcus. Daryl T. Doctor Jr., 22, was also charged with possession or use of any antishoplifting or inventory control device countermeasure. Police said he concealed three articles of clothing in a bag and exited the store. The bag contained a shoebox that was modified as an antishoplifting device countermeasure, police said.

On Tuesday, three Newark teens were arrested for shoplifting at Bloomingdales after they were accused of concealing merchandise in a shopping bag and leaving the store. Bianca Tavarez, 18, Iris E. Ramos, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile were also charged with receiving stolen property. Ramos was also charged with possessing a false driver's license. Police said the three had items believed to be from Victoria's Secret valued at $245.

Also on Tuesday, police arrested Stefanie J. Braverman, 31, of Livingston, for shoplifting at Neiman Marcus. Police said she concealed merchandise valued at $844 and exited the store.

Also on Tuesday, police arrested Lauren N. Brooks, 20, of Maplewood, for shoplifting and possession or use of any antishoplifting or inventory control device countermeasure at Bloomingdales. Police said she concealed merchandise valued at $580 in a shopping bag and exited the store.

Also on Tuesday, police arrested Margaret C. Laureys, 44, of Netcong, for shoplifting. Police said she concealed merchandise valued at $617 in a shopping bag and exiting the store.

East Orange Teen Arrested in Paper Mill Theft

An East Orange teen was arrested following a theft at the Paper Mill Playhouse on Saturday.

A suitcase was reported stolen from the lobby of the playhouse on Saturday. Police said the suitcase contained several items, including a laptop computer. Police recovered the property from a 17-year-old East Orange resident who possessed it. He was charged with receiving stolen property.
