Millburn Police Blotter: May 17 to 23

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Millburn police blotter, a listing of selected reports that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On May 17, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Kaiser responded to Bloomingdale’s on a theft report. Bloomingdale’s personnel reported that a 32-year-old Jersey City man concealed three pairs of jeans valued at $657 and left the store without making payment. He was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. He was found to have active traffic warrants out of Clifton and Jersey City. He was turned over to the Clifton Police Department.

On May 19, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Wichelns responded to the Apple store on a theft report. Apple personnel reported that on May 18, 2016, a white female approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches with a black shirt, grey pants, and black sneakers concealed 10 ipod TV remotes and left the store without making payment. The actor was accompanied by a white female (approximately 50 years old, 5 feet 6 inches and wearing a white sweatshirt and multicolored pants) and white male (approximately 50 years old, 5 feet 11 inches and wearing a black Adidas track suit and Boston Red Sox baseball cap), who each concealed five ipod Nanos and left the stone without making payment. The total value of the theft was $2,280. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On May 20, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Kaiser responded to headquarters on a theft report. The victim reports between May 15 and 17, an unknown actor took his 24-inch Mongoose bicycle from the Short Hills Circle Apartments. The victim states he left the bicycle outside his apartment near the trash area. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On May 21, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Lanni stopped a 2009 BMW 535 at Hobart/West for being unregistered. The investigation led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Perth Amboy man for an active traffic warrant out of East Orange. He was placed under arrest and cited for revoked driving and unregistered vehicle. He posted bail and was released with a new court date.

On May 22, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to Bloomingdale’s on a theft report. Bloomingdale’s personnel reported that a 59-year-old female from Whitehall, PA, concealed two purses and a skirt valued at $1,711 and left the store without making payment. She was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting before being released with a court date.

On May 22, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to the Wharton Police Department on a warrant arrest for a 40-year-old Dover man, who was placed under arrest for an active criminal warrant out of Millburn. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility on default of bail.

On May 23, 2016, Millburn Police Officer O’Neill responded to Fendi on a theft report. Fendi personnel reported that Yuri McCoy, 20, of Summit, allegedly concealed a pair of shoes valued at $700 and left the store without making payment. McCoy was placed under arrest and found to have $536 worth of stolen merchandise out of Macy’s and a vial containing cocaine. McCoy was charged with shoplifting, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCoy was found to have an active criminal warrant out of Woodbridge. McCoy was released on his own recognizance and given a new court date.
