Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Millburn police blotter, a listing of selected reports that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On December 22, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Smeraldo responded to Macy’s at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Macy’s personnel reported that a 28-year-old employee from East Orange engaged in shoplifting with a friend who was not charged for 18 items valued at $1,587. The employee was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On December 23, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Smeraldo responded to Bloomingdales at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Bloomingdales personnel reported that an 18-year-old employee from East Orange didn’t charge her cousin for a $1,595 jacket when he brought it to her register. The employee was placed under arrest and charged with theft by deception before being released with a court date. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On December 26, 2015, a counterfeit $100 dollar bill was passed at Green Nectar Juicery on Millburn Avenue. The suspect purchased $13 worth of merchandise and received $86 cash as change. The suspect was described as a black male with a beard wearing a grey cap and carrying a Dunkin’ Donuts bag. No arrests have been made.
