Millburn Police Blotter: Oct. 13 to 17

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Millburn police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On October 13, 2015, Macy’s at The Mall at Short Hills reported a theft by a male who grabbed $760 worth of merchandise and ran out of the store. Millburn Police Officer Pinero located the individual, identified as 54 year old Reinaldo Morales, of Irvington, and placed him under arrest. Morales was charged with shoplifting and found to have two active warrants out of Newark. Morales was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

On October 14, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Nacim responded to the Millburn Train Station on a bicycle theft report. The resident reports chaining his Trek bicycle to the bicycle rack near the train station at 8 a.m. and returning at 11:45 p.m., finding the bicycle and lock missing. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On October 17, 2015, Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to the restrooms near the California Pizza Kitchen at The Mall at Short Hills on a report of a credit card fraud suspect being detained by mall security. The individual, 29 year old Ying Zheng out of Flushing, NY, was placed under arrest after the investigation determined she used counterfeit credit cards at both Chanel and Apple for a total value of $5,495 worth of merchandise. Zheng was charged with credit card fraud, theft by deception, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Zheng was released with a court date.
