Millburn Police Blotter: Feb. 24 to Feb. 28
This week: Shoplifting at the mall, Employee allegedly steals $1,900 from Nieman Marcus cash register

Editor’s Note: The following list of incidents comes directly from the Millburn Police Department. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On February 24, Officer Robert Kaiser responded to Macy’s at The Mall at Short Hills. Macy’s store security personnel were reportedly observing a male who had shoplifted while in Bloomingdales. Macy’s personnel observed the male, identified as Marco Moreno, 33, of Vauxhall, select multiple pieces of merchandise and enter a fitting room. Moreno emerged with only two items. Upon being stopped, Moreno was found to be wearing clothing from Bloomingdales and Macy’s. Bloomingdales security further reported they had apprehended a mate who had accompanied Moreno earlier in their store. Store personnel reported that the male, identified as Lenin Benette-Gualan, 43, of Kearny, selected multiple pieces of merchandise and enter a fitting room. Benetiz-Gualan emerged with only three items. When apprehended by store security Benetiz-Gualan was found to be in possession of the stolen merchandise. Marco Moreno was charged with two counts of shoplifting (Bloomingdales and Macys). Lenin Benetiz-Gualan was charged with one count of shoplifting. Both men were released pending a court date.
On February 25, Officer Michael Tichenor responded to Neiman Marcus on a report of an employee in custody for theft. Store security personnel reported that they observed Oluwafemi Adedoyin, age 34 of South Orange, remove $1900.00 cash from a cash register. Adedoyin then concealed the cash in his sock. Adedoyin made a register entry to make it appear that merchandise had been returned when it had not been. Adedoyin was charged with theft and released pending a court date.

On February 25, Officer David Pinero responded to the True Religion store at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft which had just occurred. Store personnel report they observed two females, identified as Tauheedah Clark age 37 and Janavia Marable age 22 both of Newark, select two pair of jeans and conceal them in a shopping bag The women than exited the store without paying for the jeans. Both Marabie and Clark were arrested, charged with shoplifting and released pending a court date.
On February 26, Officer Robert Kaiser responded to the Apple Store at The Mall at Short Hills. Store personnel report that a female, identified as Alexis Rivera age 31 of Newark, concealed three cameras in her handbag. Rivera proceeded to exit the store without paying for the merchandise and was apprehended. An unidentified male who aided Rivera left the area and was not apprehended. Rivera was charged with shoplifting and was released pending a court date.

On February 28, Officer Derrick Czupak responded to the intersection of Main Street and Millburn Avenue on a report of a male sleeping in his vehicle. Upon arrival, Czupak found Joshua Feldman, age 29, of South Orange, asleep in the driver’s seat of a Honda Accord. On scene investigation resulted in Feldman being placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Feldman was later released pending a court appearance.
On February 28, Officer Lester Manuyag responded to Saks Fifth Avenue on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Store personnel reoirted that they observed a female, identified as Alfiya Bek, 32, of Boonton, select a pair of sunglasses from a display. Bek proceeded to exit the store without paying for the merchandise, according to store personnel. Bek was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court date.
